Day 16/17: Venice, Italy

After disembarking the cruise, we headed out in Venice to find our hotel! How perfect is this hotel?! it only had 6 rooms total, and felt so traditional to Italy.

We bought our 12 hour water taxi passes and headed to the Island of Murano! Murano is known for it's glassmaking.  We were able to see a demonstration of their glassmaking techniques, which was completely amazing.

Some Murano glass sculptures in the city streets.

Then we were off to the island of Burano! Burano is known for it's colored buildings. This was my favorite stop in Venice. I loved all the different colored buildings.

After visiting both islands, we went back to St Mark's Basilica, because we weren't able to go inside the day before due to a wedding.

On the way to relocate our favorite gelato spot, I found these cute Murano glass ballerinas!

Aww, we found it! This was the best gelato in all of Italy, promise! We got the peach flavor and it did not disappoint.

After strolling the city a little while longer, we went back to our hotel.  The base of our hotel was a cute little pizza restaurant.  Our hotel room window is the very top, side window.

This was the view from our hotel window.

Day 17:  We woke up at 3:50 AM to catch the 4:40 AM airport bus to Marco Polo Airport.  We flew from Venice to Amsterdam.  In Amsterdam we only had a one hour layover and had to run clear across the entire airport to switch terminals! Thank goodness we were so in shape now from our cruise and walking so much.  We barely made it on our flight to LAX.

WOW! We had such a great trip and could not believe it was over already! 17 days really went by so fast.  We enjoyed every day, and hope we can do it all over again someday.
