Brazil nuts are my new favorite food! .... not really, I actually have always thought they were really bland and are my least favorite nut. But I will learn to love them for one reason...
They are an excellent source of Selenium! I recently found out I have the autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, and selenium is a main component of the enzyme that converts the thyroid hormones T4 to T3. So in attempt to help my poor little thyroid out, I'll be eating these nuts in hope to improve my overall thyroid hormone levels and decrease my thyroid antibodies. I love conducting my own little science experiment :) (Don't worry, I've done lots of research which backs up this idea...)

Would they help with hypothyroidism?? Also, I'm sad you weren't at church. It was our last Sunday. :(
I read from one source that one oz of Brazil nuts can have up to 777% of your daily selenium. Yikes! Does that mean you only need to eat one a day?
